D2R consortium partners visit demolition site in Kyiv region

As part of the LIFE D2R (Debris2Resource) project, representatives of ReThink and Neo-Eco visited Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka in the Kyiv region, where a residential building destroyed by a Russian missile strike is currently being dismantled.

The visit provided an opportunity to explore the practical aspects of managing war-related debris, from organising demolition works to sorting materials directly on site. First-hand experience of these processes helps the project team better understand the challenges of working with damaged and destroyed buildings and take them into account as the project moves forward.

An important part of the visit was a meeting with the homeowner, who shared the story of the house and spoke about her plans to rebuild. Conversations like this provide valuable insight into the needs of people directly affected by destruction and help ensure that their experiences inform the development of practical solutions.

Information boards were also installed at the site, explaining that the works are being carried out as part of the D2R project and providing information about the project, its objectives, and partners.

Site visits are an important part of the D2R project. They allow consortium partners to observe demolition and war-related debris sorting processes in practice and gain insights that will inform the project’s further implementation.
